Case study
A mobile UX concept that improves digital transparency for E-ZPass account management through clearer information architecture, alerting, and accessible design patterns.
The challenge
Drivers were discovering account problems too late — hidden balances, missed violations, and fees that felt deliberately opaque.
What I delivered
A mobile experience built for clarity: instant account health, proactive alerts, and payment incentives that reward action before penalties hit.
E-ZPass account management can feel opaque — balances, violations, and payment deadlines are easy to miss, and users often discover problems only after fees have already stacked up. This concept reframes the experience around digital transparency, surfacing the information people need before it becomes a financial obstacle.
Role: UX/UI Design Concept
Drivers lacked clear visibility into account health. Critical details like negative balances, threshold warnings, and new violations were buried behind confusing navigation, making it harder to act before penalties escalated. The result was friction, overdue fees, and preventable non-payment.
I redesigned the mobile experience to prioritize clarity, urgency, and timely action:
Click any screen to view it larger.
Good standing — balance and status at a glance.
At risk — high-visibility alert before fees compound.
Threshold alerts surface before balances go negative.
Violations with honor-system payment incentives.
Scannable transaction history.
Consolidated notifications center.
This concept demonstrates how clearer information architecture and proactive alerting can turn an opaque toll account into a transparent, actionable experience — helping users resolve issues earlier, avoid unnecessary fees, and stay in control of their account.
